Who is eligible for Medical Marijuana in the State of Florida?
Medical marijuana is available to permanent or seasonal Florida residents that are diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition.

- A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the qualified physician issuing the physician certification.
- Chronic nonmalignant pain caused by a qualifying medical condition or that originates from a qualifying medical condition and persists beyond the usual course of that qualifying medical condition.
What is the Medical Marijuana Use Registry?
The Medical Marijuana Use Registry is a secure, online database for the registration of ordering physicians and qualified patients, and their orders. It is accessible by patients, ordering physicians, law enforcement, medical marijuana treatment center staff, and Office of Medical Marijuana Use staff.
Who needs to have a Medical Marijuana identification card?
All Patients and caregivers are required to have an active identification card to purchase and be in possession of medical marijuana.
How do I apply for a Medical Marijuana ID card?
Patients must first be entered into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry by a qualified physician. They can then submit an application online through the Medical Marijuana Use Registry. All applications must include a registration fee of $75.
What documentation do I need to submit to the OMMU if I am a part time (seasonal) resident?
- Seasonal residents that do not possess a valid Florida driver license or Florida identification card must submit a copy of two of the following documents:
- A deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet or residential rental or lease agreement.
- One proof of residential address from the seasonal resident’s parent, step-parent, legal guardian or other person with whom the seasonal resident resides and a statement from the person with whom the seasonal resident resides stating that the seasonal resident does reside with him or her.
- A utility hookup or work order dated within 60 days before registration in the medical use registry.
- A utility bill, not more than 2 months old.
- Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statements, not more than 2 months old.
- Mail from a federal, state, county, or municipal government agency, not more than 2 months old.
How can I check the status of my Medical Marijuana Use Registry Card Application?
The current processing time for Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Cards is 5 business days from the time the Department receives a complete application. Applications are not considered complete until payment has successfully processed. Online payments currently take 5 business days to process.

How can I check what my physician has entered into my registry?
You can log into your Registry at https://mmuregistry.flhealth.gov to check the dates of your orders, routes of administration, and total number of milligrams available to you for purchase.

How do I renew my card?
To maintain an active Medical Marijuana Use Registry identification card, a patient and/or caregiver must annually submit a renewal application, along with the application fee 45 days prior to the card expiration date.

Where can I get medical marijuana?
Licensed medical marijuana treatment centers (MMTCs) are authorized to cultivate, process and dispense medical marijuana. These are the only businesses in Florida authorized to dispense medical marijuana to qualified patients and caregivers.
Once your temporary medical marijuana card is received by email, you can contact any MMTC in the state of Florida & purchase marijuana. You can pick it up in person or have it delivered to your location of choice.
Can I travel with my Medical Marijuana?
Medical Marijuana is federally illegal. Therefore, you cannot travel outside of the state of Florida with your medical marijuana.
Where can I use Medical Marijuana?
Qualified patients can use medical marijuana at home or on private property. Public use is illegal, except for low-THC cannabis.
What is the difference between Medical Marijuana and low-THC cannabis?
"Low-THC cannabis" means a plant of the genus Cannabis, the dried flowers of which contain 0.8 percent or less of tetrahydrocannabinol and more than 10 percent of cannabidiol weight for weight. Low-THC cannabis products are essentially High-CBD products.
In Florida, medical marijuana is distinct from low-THC cannabis in that it can contain significant amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the chemical compound that causes the “high” commonly associated with cannabis. Unlike low-THC cannabis, the consumption of medical marijuana can lead to potent psychoactive effects in patients.

How can I take medical marijuana?
Medical Marijuana comes in many forms. The route that is best for you depends upon your medical condition. You can orally ingest tinctures and capsules. Inhalation routes include both vaporizing and smoking. Topical products include lotions and patches. Suppositories and nasal sprays are also available.
